The G550 is used in the VIP transport  role. A number of aircraft are (in the process of being) modified with mission systems installed to perform the intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare missions. Two contractors, IAI and L-3 Communications, are delivering these upgraded aircraft.

Australia:

Ordered two G550 intelligence and electronic warfare aircraft from L-3 Communications at the end of 2015. On June 26, 2017 the DSCA announced it approved the possible sale of five G-550 aircraft modified to integrate Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (AISREW) missions systems.

Italy:

Ordered two G550CAEW (conformal airborne early warning) aircraft. The G550s are modified by IAI (Israel Aerospace Industries) with the first aircraft delivered in 2016 and the second to be delivered in 2017.

Poland:

Ordered two aircraft on October 24, 2016. Its first aircraft was delivered to 1 BLTr at Warsaw on June 21, 2017.

United States:

The US Navy ordered one G550CAEW (USN designation unknown at this time) to replace its NP-3D (Billboard) Orion assigned to VP-30 based at Ventura County (Point Mugu), California. Delivery is to be made by December 2018.
