Comments:

F-35A:

On October 25, 2018 the Belgian minister of defence announced that the F-35A had been selected to replace the F-16s in service. 34 F-35's will be bought. At the same time the purchase of four MQ-9 MALE UAV's was also announced.

Aircraft will be reported as ordered based on the US DoD contract awards.

Alpha Jet:

Fighter pilot training was conducted together with the French Air Force. The program known as Advanced Jet Training School (AJeTS) was ended on October 11, 2018. Training of the future Belgian Air Component pilots will we done in the USA.
The Belgian Air Component aircraft are assigned to the 8th Wing (ET 008) based at Cazaux operating the Belgian and French Alpha Jets. Until the end of 2019 the wing can operate the Belgian jets which are offered for sale.
