Comment(s): WWII Operation Market Garden anniversaries: 2020: The annual commemoration including the para jumps were cancelled because of the COVID-19 (corona) pandemic. 2019: 75th anniversary of Operation Market Garden. Pare jumps were made at Groesbeek and Ginkelse heide, see exercise Falcon Leap 2019 for details and photographs. 2014: 70th anniversary of Operation Market Garden. In the week prior to the commemoration jumps more events were held. The US Army send UH-60A Black Hawk helicopters who together with soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division gave a demonstration of an assault on the Bridge at Grave. 2020: The WWII Operation Market Garden commemoration para jumps will take place on Saturday September 19. Air Bases: Deelen: until its closure as an active air base in 1995 the base housed the participating transport aircraft. These moved to Soesterberg air base. Eindhoven Air Base: accomodates the transport aircraft and its crews since 2009. Soesterberg Air Base: until its closure late 2008 the transport aircraft operated from here.
