September 21st will mark the 75th anniversary of WWII operation Market Garden. In two weeks prior to the commemoration jumps exercise Falcon Leap will be organized by Royal Netherlands Army 11 Air Mobile Brigade.

Currently expected to participate are paratroop units from: Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom and the United States. All these countries will also participate with one more aircraft. Between 10 and 14 transport aircraft will transport the sky soldiers to the drop zones during the exercise and commemoration. The A400M is expected to make her debut at Falcon Leap while the C-130 Hercules, C-160 Transall and C-295 will return. Furthermore a German civilian M-28 Skytruck will support Military Free Fall jumps made from higher altitudes.

Surrounding the 75th anniversary several events will be organized by the cities running from the Belgium border till Arnhem. Aviation related events known so far are:

18 September: Falcon Leap mission at Groesbeek. Between 600 - 800 paratroopers are planned to land at this drop zone.

20 September: 11LMB and DHC 298 squadron demonstration between 20:00 - 22.00 A rehearsal flight is scheduled to take place on either September 16 or 18 between 18:00 - 20:00.

21 September: 75th anniversary Market Garden. More than 1.000 are planned to be dropped in the three blocks reserved for the droppings. Program:

09.30 - 09.45: demonstration by the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historic Flight.

10.05 - 10.35: First para drop (three or four runs depending on the number of paratroopers to be dropped).

10.35 - 11.00: Demonstration by the DHC squadrons. 298 squadron CH-47D Chinook and 300 squadron AS.532U2 Cougar. (note: the 300 squadron AH-64D Apache helicopters are grounded - August 12 - and its unknown when these will return to service.

11.00 - 11.15: Red Devils Royal British Army Parachute Regiment display team.

12.30 - 13.00: Second drop (three or four runs depending on the number of paratroopers to be dropped).

13.45 - 14.15: Demonstration DHC squadrons. See first block.

15.00 - 15.30: First drop (three or four runs depending on the number of paratroopers to be dropped).

Note: Exercise Falcon Leap will run for 2 weeks. The first week is devoted to Cargo Delivery System (CDS) drops. These droppings aren't accessible to the public as they will take place over military bases / areas.
