3rd CAB "Marne Air" Operation Atlantic Resolve (Oct 2018 - Jul 2020)

The US Army announced its fifth Operation Atlantic Resolve rotation to Europe in August 2019. Fom mid October 2019 the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade "Marne Air" based stationed at Hunter Army Field, Fort Stewart, Georgia arrived at the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium. 3rd CAB replaced their colleagues from 1st CAB stationed at Marshall Army Field, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Helicopters, vehicles and other equipment was transported by US company ARC (American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier) ship Endurance. It arrived at Zeebrugge late in the evening of October 14. Unloading began the next morning. The helicopters were pulled from the ship and parked on the quay.
602nd Aviation Support Battalion personnel started their work on the helicopters getting them ready for the test flight. These were conducted by test pilots. After helicopters were certified for flight operations crews from the 3rd CAB companies flew them to Chievre Air Base. As during previous rotations Chievre served as hub before the helicopters were flown to US Army Europe bases to Illesheim and Ansbach in Germany. From here detachments will be forward located in Eastern European countries. Compared to previous rotations which saw the Baltics countries, Poland ad Romania hosting these detachment also other European countries will see 3rd CAB conduct lateral, joint and multinational training. During their nine month deployment to Europe Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania and Slovakia should be visited according to OAR released fact sheet by US Army Europe.

About 3rd CAB:

Compared to colleague Combat Aviation Brigades the 3rd CAB lacks an Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (AH-64D/E Apache). It's currently composed of the following companies:

Eighty helicopters are brought to Europe. 57 of these were offloaded in Zeebrugge. The remaining helicopters and support equipment was transported to the port of Volos, Greece.
