Boeing Defence C-17A Globemaster III

India is one of nine countries to operate the C-17A. Its Department of Defence signed a contract with the American government to purchase 10 Globemasters on June 15, 2011.

Boeing itself with the closure of the C-17 production line built 10 so called white-tail aircraft. At that time, the company did not have a customer of these aircraft. Nine of these were sold to Australia (2), Canada (1), Kuwait (2) and Qatar (4) leaving one aircraft. The final white tail was purchased by India bringing its fleet to 11 aircraft and was delivered on August 26, 2019.
