Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 sold to Jordan |
Latest update: December 2017 |
Jordan bought 21 F-16s from the Netherlands which were purchased in two
contracts. The first contract for six F-16BM was signed on April 12,
2007 following the letter of intent signed on April 20, 20006 between
secretary of defense Mr Cees van de Knaap (Netherlands MoD), general
Jacques de Winter (on behalf of the Belgian MoD) and prins Feisal Bin Al
Hussein (Jordan Mod) with The Netherlands offering eight F-16s (five
F-16AM and three F-16BM). These F-16s departed Leeuwarden Air Base on
July 28, 2009. The second contract covering the purchase of 15 F-16s was
signed in December 2013. The F-16 Midlife Update (F-16AM/BM) purchased in Belgium and The Netherlands replaced the F-16s which were already operated by the Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) 33 aircraft were acquired from the USAF split into 28 F-16A-ADF and 5 F-16B-ADF. A number of the Fighting Falcons have been sold to Pakistan. Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) F-16s which were selected for delivery to Jordan were transferred to Project Afstoting F-16 (PAF - Project Disposal F-16) and stored at Volkel Air Base. In the second half of 2017 work began to deliver these F-16s (13 F-16AM and two F-16BM) to the RJAF with the aircraft flying to Leeuwarden or Woensdrecht where the necessary work was carried out and at the same time the RJAF markings were applied. After the F-16s returned to Volkel the test (RNLAF pilot) and acceptance flight (RJAF pilot) were carried out. Three delivery flights were made in October, November and December 2017 (see details in below table). Tags: Belgium, Jordan, Netherlands, United States, F-16. |
