RAF Fairford: RIAT 2024

Latest update: July 2024

This year's RIAT was held from 19 - 21 July, 2024. The participating aircraft and aircrews left on the Monday.

The participants list is as it was published (weekly update) by the RIAT team until Thursday 11 July. It is updated with aircraft who were at RAF Fairford from Friday until Monday either as visitor or in support of participating aircrews.

Three of the four themes were centered around an anniversary: 50 YEARS F-16, NATO 75 and RCAF100. The fourth theme being PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES.

In 1974 the first flight by an F-16 Fighting Falcon was made. Ten countries participated with one or more F-16s. The Netherlands for the final time as the type will be withdrawn from service on 27 September 2024.

NATO celebrated its 75th anniversary at the NATO summit in Washington DC. 20 of the 32 NATO countries participated in the theme including new members Finland (joined 2023) and Sweden joined (2024).

The Royal Canadian Air Force celebrated its 100th anniversary. At RIAT six types took part in the RCAF 100 theme: CF-188 Hornet, CC-130 Super Hercules, CC-150 Polaris, CC-177 Globemaster, CC-295 Kingfisher and the CH-146 Griffon. The last being flown in by the CC-177. The RCAF Hornet team was supported by the CC-150.

The pushing the bounderies theme attracted the least participants. With Canada (CH-146 from the AETE), Germany (Tornado from WTD-61), Italy (F-2000A, C-27J Spartan and M-346 from the RSV) and the United Kingdom (Typhoon FGR.4 from 41 TES) taking part with their aircraft.
