Contracted Air Support

Latest update: October 2024

Several civilian companies offer contracted air support to air arms. These relate to air-to-air, air-to-ground, air-to-air refuelling, fleet missile defense and other missions. By contracting a civilian company the air arms free up flight hours which are use to train their pilots. Else these would be flying red air mission in support of their colleagues.

The US Department of Defence contracted seven companies to support it needs on October 18, 2019. The companies are to provide contracted air support services for realistic and challenging advanced adversary air threats and close air support threats. The contract is expected to be completed by October 29, 2024.

The following companies are contracted:

Air USA Inc., Edgewood, New Mexico
Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC) LLC, Newport News, Virginia.
Blue Air Training, Las Vegas, Nevada.
