Details covering the highlights of the CH-47F 'CAAS II' program can be read under CH-47F milestones.

The new (retrofitted) CH-47's are equal to the US Army CH-47F MYII CAAS (Common Avionics Architecture System) standard.

Six CH-47F's were bought in 2007, these will be retrofitted. New fuselages will be built and parts which can be (re)used from the current helicopters will be fitted. It's currently unknown which of the squadrons will operate the retrofitted Chinooks. Originally the six were equally divided between both squadrons however one was transferred from 298 to 302 squadron.
