The Nationaal Militair Museum (NMM - National MIlitary Museum) was officially openend by His Royal Highness King Willem-Alexander on Thursday december 11, 2014. Two days later the museum was opened for the public. The Apache demo team, 301 squadron, based at Gilze-Rijen gave a demonstration. The NMM originated from a merger of the Army Museum in Delft and the Military Aviation Museum in Soest. Both museums joint forces and relocated to the former Soesterberg air base.
The two other Dutch armed forces, Navy, Marines and military police, remain at their respective locations in Den Helder, Rotterdam and Buren. All four museums were organised into the Royal Defense Museums Foundation.

Note: The Marines are organized within the Navy.
